摘要 A method and a system for controlling a speed of a vehicle using a global positioning system are provided to automatically control the vehicle speed by using an ECU, a TCU, and an ABS. A GPS(Global Positioning System) receiver(200) outputs travel information including a current speed and a current position of a vehicle and a first vehicle information signal including road information according to the current position. A signal converter(300) receives the first vehicle information signal and converts the first vehicle information signal to a second vehicle information signal which is a CAN(Controller Area Network) interface signal, and outputs the CAN interface signal, when a speed control mode is selected. An ECU(400) determines whether the speed is to be decreased and controls an engine to slow down the vehicle. A TCU(500) performs a speed shifting process under the control of the ECU(Engine Control Unit). An ABS(Automatic Brake System)(600) performs a braking process under the control of the ECU and the TCU(Transmission Control Unit).
