PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a steering system measuring the position of a steering wheel, and the position of a steered wheel by assistance of a linear sensor of a rack witch does not use an electric motor and another conventional rotation angle sensor, in the steering system having mechanical coupling between a steering wheel and the steered wheel. SOLUTION: In the steering system coupled to the steered wheel at an end side and turning the steered wheel by side movement of the rack 10, the rack 10 having a position sensor 12 successively measuring a position of the rack 10 and issuing a corresponding position signal is provided.
