PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a block copolymer or its hydrogenation substance in which a vinyl bonding amount of a conjugated diene block portion is high, distribution of a molecular weight is narrow and strength is high even in a vinyl aromatic block portion in the block copolymer. SOLUTION: The block copolymer comprises a conjugated diene-based monomer and a vinyl aromatic-based monomer. In the block copolymer or its hydrogenation substance, the vinyl bonding amount derived from the conjugated diene-based monomer is 50% or higher, a content of the vinyl aromatic-based monomer in the block copolymer is 30 wt.% or higher, and the distribution of the molecular weight, i.e., a ratio of a weight average molecular weigh of a single peak measured by gel permeation chromatography (GPC) and a number average molecular weight is 1.4 or lower.
