<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a golf ball 2 excellent in a carrying performance. <P>SOLUTION: The golf ball 2 has a core 4, a cover 6 and many dimples 8. The cover 6 has hardness H4 less than 90 and a thickness less than 2.2 mm. A difference (H2-H1) between the surface hardness H2 of the core 4 and the center hardness H1 of the core 4 is≥10 and≤25. The sum (H2+H5) of the surface hardness H2 of the core 4 and the surface hardness H5 of the golf ball 2 is≥150 and≤180. When the average diameter of all the dimples 8 is defined as Da, the ratio (N1/N) of the number N1 of adjacent dimple pairs whose pitch is≤(Da/4) to the total number N of the dimples is≥2.70.
