[Class 6 (i)] [Also in Groups XXIV and XXVI] In wheeled distributing- machines for manure &c. in which the hopper or container isprovidedwith moving grids, one or more of which is given a reciprocating movement, means for regulating the length of stroke of the moving grid or grids comprises a driving eccentric or its equivalent actuated by the road wheels and a driven eccentric or its equivalent mounted thereon or therein, mechanical adjusting gear being provided on both the driving member and the driven member, whereby the one member may be given a rotational movement in relation to the other. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 2, two grids are driven by connecting-rods 13 on opposite sides of the hopper, the rods 13 being connected to crank-pins 12 on two eccentrics 10 driven by eccentrics 9 on a shaft 5 which is driven from a road wheel 2 by bevel gearing 6, 7 and a clutch. The two crank-pins are about 90‹ out of register. Each eccentric 10 is made in two parts connected by bolts 11 so as to embrace the corresponding eccentric 9. It is adjustable relatively to the eccentric 9 by turning a worm spindle 15 in a casing 14 on the eccentric 10, the worm engaging with teeth on the eccentric 9. A pointer 20 on the eccentric 9 moves over a scale 21 on the eccentric 10. In the modification shown in Fig. 8, the outer periphery of the driven eccentric 23 is circular and is embraced by a strap 31 to which the connecting-rod 13 is fastened. The worm 27 is mounted in an opening in the eccentric 23 and engages teeth on the driven eccentric 22. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 12, the two pairs of eccentrics at the ends of the driving shaft 34 are adjustable simultaneously by one worm. Slotted lever arms on the tubular shaft 34 are connected by pins 40 to the outer eccentrics 41 carrying crank-pins 42. The inner eccentrics 44 are keyed on an inner adjusting shaft 45. The worm 47 engages with teeth 50 on one of the inner eccentrics 44, so that by rotating it by means of a tool the two pairs of eccentrics are adjusted together through the shaft 45. In another modification, pinions keyed on the adjusting shaft gear with internal teeth on the outer eccentrics so that both pairs of eccentrics are adjusted simultaneously by one worm.. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 15, a crank 71 on each end of the driving shaft 70 carries a pin 72 on which is pivoted a second crank 73 carrying a pin 74 on which the connecting-rod 75 is mounted. The cranks are adjusted relative to one another by means of a worm 78 engaging teeth 76. A pointer 86 on the crank 73 passes over a scale 85 on a lateral extension 84 of the crank 71. The extension 84 may be slotted to receive an extension of the pin 74 for locking purposes. The worm spindle is frictionally loaded by a compression spring 81 so as to remain in any position into which it is moved. The heads by which the worm spindles can be turned may be acted upon by plate springs engaging their flat sides.
