CASTING CORE, RAW CASTING, SHELL, AND CORE COMBINATION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate or reduce a plug welding step in the prior art by using free distal ends of RMC (refractory metal core) legs to cast closed leg ends of a cooling passageway. SOLUTION: A blade outer air seal (BOAS) 20 casting core has a first end portion 28 and a second end portion 30 and a plurality of legs 82, 84, 86, 88, 90, 92. Of these legs, each of first legs has: a proximal end joining the first end portion 28; a main body portion; and a free distal portion.
