The procedure for the production of a coil spring from a wire (11), comprises rolling two flattenings by means of a forming device (3), which is arranged under an angle >= 0[deg] to an imaginary diameter line (D) of the wire, coiling the spring by means of a coiling machine in such a manner that the imaginary diameter line is arranged perpendicularly to a longitudinal axis of the finished coil spring, and forming the convex flattenings. The procedure for the production of a coil spring from a wire (11), comprises rolling two flattenings by means of a forming device (3), which is arranged under an angle >= 0[deg] to an imaginary diameter line (D) of the wire, coiling the spring by means of a coiling machine in such a manner that the imaginary diameter line is arranged perpendicularly to a longitudinal axis of the finished coil spring, and forming the convex flattenings.
