The method involves capturing ambience information from the ambience of the motor vehicle (1) by an image sensor. The ambience information is converted to graphical data. The resolution of individual image areas (3,4) within the graphical data is determined. The graphical data is masked in the image areas, in which the resolution is below a fixed threshold value.
