A light emitting device and a fabrication method thereof are provided to improve the lifetime and reliability of the light emitting device by forming a moisture absorbing member functioning as an auxiliary electrode. A light emitting device(300) includes a substrate(310), a thin film transistor(320), a planarizing film(325), a first electrode(330), an insulating film(335), a light emitting unit(340), a second electrode(345), and a moisture absorbing member(350). The thin film transistor is placed on the substrate. The planarizing film is placed on the substrate and has a contact hole on a source or drain electrode of the thin film transistor. The first electrode is placed on the planarizing film and electrically connected to the source or drain electrode of the thin film transistor, which is exposed through the contact hole. The insulating film is placed on the first electrode and has an opening unit. The light emitting layer is placed on the first electrode exposed through the opening unit. The second electrode is placed on the light emitting layer. The moisture absorbing member is placed in a non-light emitting area on the second electrode. |
