<p>The present invention provides a method and system for inter- cell interference coordination during random access in a mobile communications system with at least one serving cell and at least one user equipment. The method comprises the following steps: In a first step, the user equipment executes downlink measurements. In a second step, an interference mitigation algorithm is executed using results of said downlink measurements as input for assigning time/frequency resources for said random access of said user equipment.
