摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety mechanism properly working even at emergencies by optimizing a structure inside a case, in putting in practical use in a sealed structure an electrochemical element such as a nonaqueous secondary battery with high energy density. SOLUTION: The electrochemical element has an electrode group laminating a cathode and an anode through a separator housed in a case having an opening sealed with a sealing plate, and sealing plate is provided with an exhaust valve having a function of releasing pressure inside the electrochemical element outside when an inner pressure inside the electrochemical element reaches a given pressure level. An insulating plate, provided between the electrode group and the sealing plate, is made of thermosetting resin, contains glass fiber as a frame material, and is provided with at least one opening. There is at least one place where the glass fiber passes continuously from one end face of the insulating plate through to the other end face with a distance from the center within 60% of the radius in parallel with a line passing the maximum diameter from one end face to the other of the insulating plate.
