PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite board which is free from bulging on a front surface thereof and prevents degradation of surface flatness thereof even if water infiltrates into a rear surface thereof. SOLUTION: The composite board 10 is manufactured by bonding and laminating plywood 11 on a rear surface of an MDF 12 via an adhesive, and forming a plurality of grooves 17 extending over the entire longitudinal length in a rear surface of the plywood, at suitable intervals. Each groove has a depth h that extends from the rear surface of the plywood and reaches a frontmost side veneer 11a but does not reach the rear surface of the MDF. The plywood is five-ply plywood, for instance, in which the frontmost side veneer, a rearmost side veneer, and a second intermediate veneer have almost the same fiber orientation along a longitudinal direction of the composite board, and a first intermediate veneer and a third intermediate veneer have almost the same fiber orientation along a lateral direction of the composite board.
