PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an insert capable of simply and highly precisely adjusting its position and improving dynamic balance and the rigidity of a tool body by minimizing a part of the tool body to be notched. SOLUTION: This insert 20 mounted to a boring tool is characterized in that its external shape has a polygonal plane shape, one polygonal face is defined as a seating surface 21, one of side faces is defined as a rake face 23, an outer circumferential cutting edge 27 is provided in the rake face 23 at a ridge line radially outside the tool body, the outer circumferential cutting edge 27 is added with a back taper, the polygonal face has an insertion hole 30 penetrating in the width direction, the other polygonal face has a clamp face 31 when a clamp screw having a shaft and an abutment face orthogonally crossing the shaft is inserted into the insertion hole 30, abutting on the abutment face, and the clamp face 31 is gradually recedingly inclined to the face orthogonally crossing with the central axis L of the insertion hole 30 as it approaches the outer circumferential cutting edge 27.
