PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric main spindle device using no hydraulic cylinder, have a simple and inexpensive structure compared with a scroll type electric chuck and reduce noise when opening and closing a claw. SOLUTION: This main spindle device is provided with a main spindle 15 driven by a main spindle drive motor and having a shaft hole 14, a chuck 17 provided at the tip of the main spindle 15 and having a work clamping opening/closing claw 16, a draw bar 18 axially movable relative to the main spindle 15, penetrated through the shaft hole 14 to rotate together with the main spindle 15 and opening and closing the claw 16 by axial movement, and a conversion means 19 converting the rotation of the main spindle 15 into the axial movement of the draw bar 18.
