The contactor (1) has switching points including a fixed contact carrier (4.1) and a movable contact carrier (4.2), and a switching mechanism for controlling movement paths of the movable contact carriers. An actuator (6) is fixed for instantaneous opening of one of the switching points and prolonged opening of the other switching point. The actuator for prolonged opening of the other switching point acts on the switching mechanism. An insulating separating plate (8) is arranged between the switching points.
