Populations of micro organisms are settable in the modified filter material. The mixture is coordinated on the chemical and/or physical sorption of an assigned residual component from a reactive material and/or the settlement of the population of the assigned microorganism. The mixture or the substrate is formed to a molded article by molding method. The modified filter material (2) for the purification of gases and exhaust air flow, comprises a mixture of fibrous substrate material and derivatization reagent, and mixture of auxiliary materials. Populations of micro organisms are settable in the modified filter material. The mixture is coordinated on the chemical and/or physical sorption of an assigned residual component from a reactive material and/or the settlement of the population of the assigned microorganism. The mixture or the substrate is formed to a molded article by molding method. The residual component or a reaction product of the residual component is converted and/or degradable with another residual component or with a component of the chemical and/or biological mixture. The modified filter material is regeneratable. The mixture allows or favors a self settlement of the population of ubiquitous microorganisms. The substrate material is formed by natural fibers, inorganic fibers or artificial fibers. The derivatization reagent is formed by organic or inorganic compound. The auxiliary material is formed by water, cellulose derivative or a salt solution. The substrate material and the derivatization reagent and/or the auxiliary material are mixed with each other for the formation of the mixture. The derivatization reagent is applied on a surface of the molded article.</p>
