The lighting unit (1) has a light source e.g. LED, and a laminar light conductor (2) that exhibits a light linking surface at a narrow side, where the light source is assigned to the light linking surface and exhibits a light uncoupling surface at a front side. A rear side (8) of the light conductor has a dispersing area with high dispersing effect for formation of a surface area (9) of the unit. A lighting disk longitudinal section is attached with a longitudinal section that raises in a light radiation direction (4) of the conductor in the surface area at a front side (3) of the conductor.
