The device has two measuring units, which work with different resolutions for detecting surface of a print substrate (3). A metering bar (1) is provided with measuring heads (8). The measuring units are combined with the measuring heads. One of the measuring units simultaneously detects pixels on the surface of the print substrate. The other measuring unit color-metrically measures the surface of the print substrate.
