<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device capable of surely preventing scintillation of the light emitted from a spatial optical modulator and attaining high image quality. <P>SOLUTION: In the image display device provided with a light source device 21R emitting light, the spatial optical modulator 24R modulating light emitted from the light source device 21R according to image signal; a projector projecting light modulated by the spatial optical modulator 24R onto a projection plane and a deflecting means 32 deflecting light which is emitted from the light source device 21R and to be made incident on the spatial optical modulator 24R; a part of a display region of the spatial optical modulator 24R is illuminated, with the light emitted from the light source device 21R; and the illumination region illuminated with light can be moved on the projection plane, since the light is deflected by the deflecting means 32. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
