PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a luminance adjustment device and a luminance adjustment program capable of adjusting the luminance of a fine liquid crystal display screen according to the utilization environment. SOLUTION: The luminance adjustment device is provided with a liquid crystal display means which receives the light irradiation from a backlight and performs liquid crystal display of an image; a photographic means which changes the photograph setting information according to at least the light quantity of the surroundings; a plurality of adjustment values, by which the luminance of the screen of the liquid crystal display means is adjusted; a luminance pattern retaining means which retains a plurality of luminance patterns, exhibiting the correspondence relation between a plurality of adjustment values of adjusting the luminance of a screen of the liquid crystal display means and the luminance values of the backlight for the respective adjustment values; a luminance pattern selection means which refers to a preset luminance pattern setting table and selects the luminance pattern, based on the photograph setting information from the photographic means; and a luminance adjustment means which adjusts the luminance value of the backlight of the liquid crystal display means, by using the luminance value pattern selected by the luminance value pattern selection means.
