PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable high-speed and highly-accurate detection of temperature information corresponding to electric thermal conversion elements of recording head. SOLUTION: The recording head comprises a drive circuit 901 which divides a plurality of heaters 104 to a plurality of blocks and drives the blocks by distributing power in the unit of blocks in accordance with record data, a constant current source 915 which commonly provides biasing currents to each of temperature detection element groups including temperature detection elements 102 disposed respectively corresponding to the plurality of heaters and divided into a plurality of blocks, a switching element 913 which turns on/off the power distribution to each of the temperature detection elements of the selected temperature detection element group, detected voltage retrieving circuits 916 and 917 which retrieves the voltage generated at both ends of each of the temperature detection elements included in the temperature detection element groups by power distribution to the temperature detection elements of the selected temperature detection element group, and an amplifier circuit which amplifies the retrieved detection voltage.
