PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid detergent composition for metal excellent in initial detergency, exerting excellent detergency even contaminated with processing oil or the like in continuously cleaning industrial metal products or parts. SOLUTION: The liquid detergent composition for metal is characterized by formulating following components (A)-(E) in a respective ratio. The component (A) 1-50 wt.% of a nonionic surfactant comprising (a1) a compound represented by general formula (1) and (a2) a compound represented by general formula (2), in a mass ratio of ä(a1)/(a2)}=1/10-20/1, (B) 0.1-6.0 wt.% of a silicate compound, (C) 0.1-6.0 wt.% of ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid and/or its alkali metal salt, (D) 0.1-6.0 wt.% of oxycarboxylic acid and/or its alkali metal salt, and (E) 32.0-98.7 wt.% of water.
