PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling movement of a coke oven excellent in installation expense, detection accuracy and safety, and an apparatus for the same. SOLUTION: Positions of a guide vehicle 21 and an extruder 22 are controlled by photographing recognition panels having coded furnace numbers for specifying the furnace positions and installed at each furnace position of a guide vehicle side and an extruder side of a coke oven, recognizing the furnace number depending on the photographed images and judging whether the guide vehicle 21 and the extruder 22 are in predetermined positions or not.
