Disclosed is a method for producing blank lids from printed and embossed stock such as metal films, plastic films, papers, and layered materials or laminates made therefrom. The stock is printed in a printing press by means of ink-conducting printing groups and is embossed in the same printing press or another printing press located behind the first one. Printing elements of the printing forme are applied to the stock as an embossed pattern. For this purpose, the stock is guided between the form cylinder and the impression cylinder in the printing group and is embossed in said process. As a printing forme, the form cylinder is provided with engraved, e.g. recessed, and/or raised printing elements, for example. The stock comprises the embossed pattern and, if applicable, a single-colored or multi-colored printed pattern. The embossed pattern can boost the effect of the colored subject and can also have functional properties, e.g. as a tearing aid or as Braille writing. Blank lids are removed from the stock, e.g. punched out. The inventive blank lids are easy to separate from a stack and are therefore particularly suitable for processing in filling stations in order to put lids on cups or similar. |
