The engine e.g. two-stroke engine (1), has a combustion chamber (3) formed in a cylinder (2) and limited by a piston (5). A crankshaft (7) is supported in a crank case (4), and is driven by the piston. A suction channel (16) has an adjustable throttle element, in which a fuel opening (22) flows. The fuel is sucked in the suction channel based on the low pressure controlled in the operation in the suction channel. A unit for the limiting the low pressure controlled in the suction channel is provided downstream the throttle element.
