<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a writing utensil, under the condition that the rear end of which is covered with a palm, a plurality of gripping manners can be dealt no matter whether the dexterous hand of a user is right one or a left one, the size of the hand is small or large and the length of the fingers are long or short, which can reduce the fatigue of the wrist due to long spell of writing and have a structure suitable for writing to a writing board arranged upright. <P>SOLUTION: In this writing utensil 1 equipped with a pen point 4 at the tip of a barrel 2, the external surface of the barrel 2 includes a rear end supporting part 26, against which the palm abuts, and a plurality of finger tip supporting parts 3 formed at positions, the distances from the rear end supporting part 26 of which towards the pen point 4 are different from one another. The finger tip supporting parts 3 at least consists of first finger tip supporting parts 31, which are provided near the pen point 4, and second finger tip supporting parts 32 provided at the rear of the first finger tip supporting parts 31. The finger tip supporting part 3 consists of at least one contacting part 34 formed circumferentially.
