<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering apparatus capable of restraining kickback more appropriately in releasing steering assist control. <P>SOLUTION: This electric power steering system is provided with a three-phase brushless motor 12 for providing a steering assist force relieving a driver from a steering burden to a steering system. To generate the steering assist force corresponding to at least a steering torque T, the motor 12 is drivingly controlled, referring to a motor rotational angle θ. At this time, when there is abnormality in the motor rotational angle θ detected by a rotational angle detection unit, a reference angle of the motor rotational angle θ is changed so that a rotational state of the motor 12 just before the abnormality occurs is maintained. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
