PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems of a conventional optical communication module that has difficulty in making an optical fiber and a light transmitting and receiving element to face each other and in fixing them in a mutually faced state and that, because of a tendency of producing interference between the light transmitting and receiving elements, requires spacing in-between, causing a high price and a large size. SOLUTION: In the optical element package 10 of the optical communication module 1, a light shielding plate 11 is projectingly provided between each optical fiber, wherein the light shielding plate is provided with a notched part 11a thereon that fits to the thickness of a gap holding fiber 22, and wherein the gap holding fiber is provided with a notched part 20a thereon that fits to the thickness of the light shielding plate. Thus, the notched part of the light shielding plate and that of the fiber are engaged with each other, so that the optical fiber and the optical communication module are positioned, which is the characteristic of this optical communication module.
