PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a parallel tunnel structure which contributes to shortening of a construction period and reduction of construction costs, and to provide a method of constructing the parallel tunnel structure. SOLUTION: In construction of tunnels adjacent to each other and in parallel with each other, an antecedent tunnel 4 is excavated, and timbering 10 is set along an internal periphery of the tunnel. Thereafter, legs 14a of timbering 14 of a subsequent tunnel 6 which has not been excavated yet, are antecedently set inside the timbering 10 provided for the antecedent tunnel 4, such that an upper end of each leg 14a of the timbering 14 of the unexcavated subsequent tunnel 6 is connected to an upper end of each timbering leg 10a of the antecedent tunnel 4, and a reinforcing member 16 is filled between the timbering legs 14a of the subsequent tunnel 6 and the timbering legs 10a of the antecedent tunnel 4, to thereby form a center pillar 18. Thereafter the subsequent tunnel 6 is excavated in parallel with the center pillar 18 on a lateral side of the same, and the timbering 14 is set along an internal periphery of the subsequent tunnel 6 by being connected to the timbering legs 14a of the subsequent tunnel 6 constituting the center pillar 18.
