METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR CONTROLLING POWER IN A COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

A power control method and system in a communication system are provided to improve the performance of a communication system by minimizing interference between adjacent cells and to control transmission power corresponding to data information transmitted to each receiver and feedback information received from each receiver. A transmitter receives feedback information, namely, SINR(Signal-to-Interference Noise Ratio) information, received from each receiver existing in a certain cell(201). The transmitter calculates a data transfer rate of each receiver according to the SINR information(203). The transmitter calculates a load of the cell, namely, an overall amount of data to be transmitted to all the receivers based on the calculated data rate and an amount of data to be transmitted to each data(205). The transmitter compares the load with the first and second threshold values and calculates a price according to the comparison result(207). The transmitter calculates transmission power and transmits data to the receivers based on the calculated transmission power to thus provide a communication service to the receivers(209).
