PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve efficiency in assembling Cardan joints by automatically assembling a set of Cardan joints in one cycle per four shafts of a spider. SOLUTION: The set of Cardan joints (two yokes and one spider) are automatically assembled in one cycle per four shafts 22a, 22b, 22c and 22d of the spider 22. Press-in punches 32 are fed at high speed into a fixed position and then a pressure change point at which the press-in punches 32 are bottomed at end faces of the shafts of the spider 22 through the cup bottom of a bearing 20 is detected while measuring positions of the press-in punches 32.
