PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an adhesive applied beforehand to a rivet joint part, from being pressed out of a panel edge in driving a self-piecing rivet. SOLUTION: The adhesive B1 is continuously applied to a joint part with the self-piercing rivet R between a flange part 1a of a roof panel 1 made of aluminum and a flange part 2a of a body side panel 2 made of steel, with a locus of circular closed loop shape near the edge (e) of the flange part 1a to form beforehand an adhesive layer 10 with a predetermined width dimension with a plurality of adhesive beads B1 of loop shape lined up in spectacle shape and in series. The loop diameter of the adhesive beads B1 is sized to be larger than a pressure region in driving the self-piercing rivet R and not to come in contact with the self-piercing rivet R after driving is completed.
