PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fire spreading prevention method effective at the initial stage of a fire caused by the leakage of oil, and a fire spreading prevention implement for use in the method. SOLUTION: The fire spreading prevention implement is composed of a long freely-deformable tube (1) which allows water, passing through the tube, to seep through a wall surface (1c). In the fire spreading prevention method, firstly, the tube is connected to a high-pressure water supply source (2); a fire-prevention target area (4) and a fire-caused area (5) are divided by using the tube; and a guidance area continuing into the fire-caused area is formed. Subsequently, high-pressure water is supplied to the tube, and seeps through the wall surface (1c) of the tube, while the swollen state of the tube is maintained; the wall surface is coated with a membrane (8) of the seeping water; and the seeping water is stored in the fire-caused area and the guidance area. Burning leaked oil (3) is guided to the guidance area to the fired-caused area, while the water level (L) of the stored water (6) is kept in a range which does not exceed the height (H) of the tube.
