<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a history management device capable of suppressing communication traffic in collection of histories of a plurality of devices such as printers. <P>SOLUTION: A server that is this history management device extracts, upon receipt of a tabulation request including a tabulation object group from a user (S521), MFPs (multi-function printers) that are printers corresponding to the group from predetermined group data (S522), and transmits a log request to each extracted MFP (S523). Each MFP forms a log that is an operation history (S502), extracts, upon receipt of the request (S503 and S504), a transmitting object item from the formed log (S505), and transmits it (S506). The server receives the log from each FMP (S524) and tabulates it (S525).
