PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic device and a portable terminal device, capable of accurately indicating the residual quantity of a battery, even when operating in a state that requires a large amount of current consumption. SOLUTION: The portable terminal device (electronic device) 10 comprises the battery 16; a battery power detecting section 17 for detecting the power of the battery 16; a display section 12; a memory section 15 which previously stores the voltage drop characteristics of the battery corresponding to a load current; and a control section 18 for controlling the operation of displaying the residual quantity of the battery 16, based on the detection result of the battery power detecting section 17. The control section 18 corrects the battery voltage, detected by the battery power detecting section 17 so as to make active application associate with the voltage drop characteristics stored in the memory section, and carries out displaying of the residual quantity, corresponding to the voltage value corrected.
