PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a television receiver and a television reception method capable of dynamically performing RGB gamma correction. SOLUTION: The television receiver comprises an input means for inputting an image signal, a moving video detection means for performing moving video detection from the image signal inputted from the input means, a frame double speed conversion means for performing frame double speed conversion onto the image signal of one frame inputted by the input means, RGB gamma correction means for making the variation amount for each field of the characteristics of RGB gamma correction variable based on the detection result by the moving video detection means, and a display means for displaying an output signal of the RGB gamma correction means.
