A fuel cell separator (38) has a sandwiching section (100). The sandwiching section (100) is connected to a fuel gas manifold (106) through a bridge (102), and connected to an oxygen-containing gas manifold (108) through a bridge (104). The circumferential length R of the sandwiching section (100), the width H of the bridges (102, 104), the length L of the bridges (102, 104), and the outer diameter D of the manifolds (106, 108) satisfies relationships of 0.03 = H/R = 0.20, 0.01 = L/R = 0.55, and 0.06 = D/R = 0.32.
