468,886. Microscopes ; adjusting- apparatus. LEITZ GES., E., and LEITZ, E. Jan. 26, 1937, No. 2285. [Class 97 (i)] [Also in Group XXII] Drilling or like apparatus is provided with an optical system the whole or part of which is rigidly attached to the rotating spindle of the apparatus. In one arrangement, Fig. 1, the spindle A is hollow to accommodate the objective E of an optical system whose optical axis is coincident with the spindle axis. The eyepiece F of the system may be detachably mounted on the rear end of the sleeve B or may be rigidly mounted thereon, Cross-wires or other suitable measuring marks are provided at G. In another arrangement, Fig. 4, the objective is formed of separate elements E<1>, E<2> and a glass prism is mounted between the elements. The prism is built-up of parts H, J, K of which the parts H and J constitute an Abbe's prism for giving inversion of the image in two planes at right - angles. The surfaces of the part K in contact with the parts H and J are partially silvered, or opaque silvering on the portions of the contact surfaces of the part K adjacent to the optical axis with the remaining portions of such surfaces unsilvered may be employed. Any eccentricity of the drilling marks on the work will be immediately apparent since the erect and inverted images will not be coincident.
|
