Mouse with variable gain

The mouse (21) has a balancing unit (29) for balancing measurement of displacement by a gain. A gain adjusting unit (31) adjusts the gain according to a speed of the mouse and is arranged for modifying the gain according to the sum of set of previously acquired displacement measurements. An accumulator (24) is connected to the balancing unit for receiving the balanced measurement and for storing the accumulated measurements of displacement. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for communicating with a host device (2) a computer program product comprising a set of instructions for performing a method for communicating with a host device.
