An apparatus for generating sodium hypochloride is provided to skip a process of diluting a sodium hypochloride solution according to requirement of chlorine and improve the electrolyzing efficiency, by defining a diluting room and an electrode room within an electrolytic tank, mixing sodium hypochloride and water in the diluting room, and performing heat-exchange between the diluting room and the electrode room during mixing of the sodium hypochloride and the water. An electrolytic tank(26) receives inflow water and diluted salt water to generate sodium hypochloride through electrolysis. The inflow water flows into the electrolytic tank through an inflow water supplying pipe. The diluted salt water is obtained by mixing salt water from a saltwater storing tank and the inflow water within a salt water supplying pipe. An electrode chamber(30) and a diluting chamber(32) are defined by a partition wall(28) within the electrolytic tank. The sodium hypochloride generated by electrolysis within the electrode room flows into the diluting chamber through a connecting channel(34).
