An ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus and a method for forming multiple receiving scan lines are provided to prevent an extracting and interpolating rate from decreasing due to the increase of the number of scan lines. An ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus for forming multiple receiving scan lines includes a plurality of transducers, an ADC(Analog-Digital Converter)(130), and a receiving beam former(140). The plurality of transducers transduce an ultrasonic signal reflected from an original receiving scan line to an analog signal which has a central frequency. The ADC converts the analog signal applied from each of the transducers to digital data. The receiving beam former delays the digital data, stores the delayed data, and forms the data of the multiple receiving scan line by extracting and interpolating the stored data at the rate of an integer multiple of the central frequency.
