摘要 A hybrid backlight unit of LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a drive method thereof are provided to adjust color temperature of liquid crystal elements arbitrarily which is generated by light emitting diodes, thereby enabling a user to watch images of desire color temperature and easily selecting temperatures requested by buyers. A hybrid backlight unit of LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) comprises the following parts: a light emitting diode driver(250) for converting input voltage to driving voltage and supplying the converted voltage; a plurality of light emitting diode strings(310) which is emitted by light emitting driving voltage supplied from the light emitting driver; a color temperature control unit(320) for controlling color temperature of the plurality of light emitting diode strings for color temperature matched to color temperature level selected by a user; and a driving voltage variable unit(330,340) for varying a level of light emitting driving voltage outputted from the light emitting diode driver according to control of the color temperature control unit and supplying the varied driving voltage to light emitting diode strings.
