A recording medium having file system identification information, a method of initializing the recording medium using the same, and apparatus and method of reproducing record are provided to initialize the recording medium by recording information identifying kinds of a file system. A recording medium having file system identification information includes an area recording file system information in the recording medium and an area recording identification information recognizing kinds of the recorded file system. The area recording identification information is located within the area recording file system information. The area recording identification information is located within a DMA(Defect Management Area). The recording medium is a reusable blue-ray disc. A method of reproducing the recording medium includes the steps of: checking file system identification information recorded in the recording medium; and stopping write/reproducing operation if the file system identification information is not reusable.
