[Class 38 (i)] In a cable terminal box, an inner chamber, formed by a combined rear and side wall member 19, Figs. 2 and 3, closed by a terminal block 21 and joined at its upper end to the outer chamber by a collar 31, is spaced from the walls of the outer chamber. The incoming cable 33, plumbed to the sleeve 32, passes into the inner chamber where the conductors are connected to terminals 20. Two doors 11, 12 each comprising one side and half the front of the outer chamber are hinged to a mounting plate 10, a latching device 16 being used to ensure complete closure. A top plate 30, fixed to the mounting plate 10, is bent over to form a rim with an inner ring RM. The hinges H, HI allow the doors 11, 12 to be lifted by a latching device, the hook 35 engaging a projection 34 and being actuated by a handle 36 thus making a weather-tight joint between the doors and the plate. In a modification, Fig. 8, as used in conjunction with a cable suspended from a wire, the cable passes into an inner chamber 170 and is connected to terminals 155. Drop wires 165 pass through gaskets of cork 162 and resilient material 167.
