<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liquid crystal display device capable of performing display having excellent contrast and an excellent NTSC ratio. <P>SOLUTION: A diffusion agent 5b having a refractive index equal to that of a polarizing plate 4a is mixed in an adhesive material 5a by which a retardation plate 3a and the polarizing plate 4a of a panel 10 which are located on the side facing a backlight unit 20 are made to adhere to each other, and the layer of the adhesive material 5a is specified to be a diffusion layer 5. Since light made incident in the panel 10 from the backlight unit 20 passes through the diffusion layer 5 before the light is made incident in a liquid crystal layer 1, an image whose luminance unevenness is suppressed is obtained. Since the diffusion layer 5 is located on the downstream side of the polarizing plate 4a on an optical path, reflection to the backlight unit 20 side and backward scattering are prevented by the polarizing plate 4a, and thus reduction of contrast and the NTSC ratio (color reproducibility) are eliminated. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
