PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk reproducing system which can further reduce power consumption. SOLUTION: The optical disk reproducing system, comprising an error correction means 15 for error correction of a reproducing signal from the reproduced optical disk 1, a temporary storing means 16 for temporarily storing the error corrected reproducing signal, and a residual data managing means 23 for managing data quantity stored in the temporary storing means. The residual data managing means has a controlling means 27 for regulating power supply to the error correction means at least when detecting an interval of time the data quantity reaches from the first level to the second level, thereby reducing the power consumption of the whole system.
