PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restore a character image separated in removing ruled lines in a table. SOLUTION: An image processor inputs, as an image, a document in which a table composed of ruled lines and information related to the table are adjoined, specifies the ruled lines in the table, and removes the ruled lines from the image on the basis of the ruled lines in the table. The processor detects circumscribed rectangles of the information associated with the table from the removed image, specifies the positional relation of the circumscribed rectangles, and integrates the circumscribed rectangles. The processor extracts pixel lines in contact with the ruled lines from the integrated circumscribed rectangle. Since the processor may integrate the circumscribed rectangles to limit a connection area, it may simply suppress erroneous connections of pixels. Since character segments are connected with one another by a pixel line connection means, the processor may remove the ruled lines in the table and restore the characters divided in removing simpler than before and without seriously affecting on character shapes.
