PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hermetic compressor capable of securing pressure resistant strength even if plate thickness of a hermetic vessel is reduced and light weight material is used. SOLUTION: A cutout larger than a stator welding hole provided in a hermetic vessel is provided in the stator. The stator welding hole and the stator cutout are abutted and a through hole passing through the hermetic vessel from an outside of the hermetic vessel and reaching the stator cutout is formed. Droplet having melting point lower than that of base material of the stator is dropped from wire of a welding machine and is filled in the through hole to weld the hermetic vessel and the stator and a catching part is provided at the stator cutout. Consequently, even if since pressure is applied to the hermetic vessel and the hermetic vessel expands, the stator cutout part is caught and expansion of the hermetic vessel is stopped, pressure resistant strength can be secured.
