PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition which outclasses the dispersibility of silica to improve the processability and excels in the balance of abrasion resistance, rolling resistance properties and wet performance. SOLUTION: The rubber composition comprises 100 pts.wt. diene rubber component, 5-100 pts.wt. silica, 1-20 wt.% silica coupling agent based on the weight of the above silica, and a cationic surface active agent represented by formula (1) [wherein R<SP>1</SP>is an 8-24C saturated or unsaturated alkyl group, a 6-24C aryl group or a group of R<SP>5</SP>OC<SB>p</SB>H<SB>2p</SB>CHOHCH<SB>2</SB>(wherein p is an integer of 1-5, and R<SP>5</SP>is hydrogen or a 1-12C saturated or unsaturated alkyl group), R<SP>2</SP>and R<SP>4</SP>are each an 8-24C saturated or unsaturated alkyl group or a 1-3C alkyl group; and R<SP>3</SP>is a 1-3C alkyl group].
