PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing precipitated silica by which the number of viable bacteria is significantly reduced. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing precipitated silica includes a reaction step of adding a mineral acid to an alkali silicate aqueous solution to obtain precipitated silica, a filtration step of separating the precipitated silica obtained by the above reaction step from the aqueous solution by filtering and then rinsing the precipitated silica, and a drying step of drying the precipitated silica obtained in the filtration step, wherein water used for rinsing in the filtration step is controlled to have the number of viable bacteria of 30 cfu/cm<SP>3</SP>or less.
